Cómo activar la mente con el cuerpo y los sentidos

Con actividades propioceptivas sencillas, como trepar y hacer equilibrio sobre una viga, puede estimularse, activarse y entrenarse la memoria de trabajo muy por encima de los resultados obtenidos con otras estrategias.

Un estudio reciente observó que tan sólo 2 horas de actividades propioceptivas dinámicas pueden producir hasta un 50% de mejoría en el rendimiento mental; superando cómodamente los resultados que se obtienen con otros recursos probados.

Este efecto del sistema sensomotor se ha identificado en los adultos que participaron en el estudio, con edades entre 18 y 59 años. Los resultados son consistentes: la mejoría es espectacular, muy superior a lo que habitualmente se logra con otras estrategias conocidas para mejorar la eficacia cognitiva.

Lo destacado: la mejora se produce con actividades FÍSICAS simples y específicas, lo que implica que NO se requiere equipo especial y es más fácil iniciar un entrenamiento cognitivo efectivo.

Personas de todas las edades pueden beneficiarse utilizando intencionalmente su cuerpo y sus sentidos durante experiencias físicas que exijan adaptación propioceptiva fluida a cambios dinámicos en el entorno.

¿Qué es propiocepción?
La propiocepción es el sentido que nos informa mediante las sensaciones de movimiento:

la posición, orientación y rotación del cuerpo en el espacio
la posición y los movimientos de los distintos miembros del cuerpo

Los receptores o terminaciones nerviosas de la propiocepción están localizados en músculos, tendones, articulaciones y oído interno.

La propiocepción tiene relación directa con la memoria de trabajo. Entrenar intencionalmente la propiocepción es entrenar intencionalmente la memoria de trabajo.

El efecto generado por este tipo de estimulación sensomotora de la memoria de trabajo, al ser experiencialmente más intenso, perdura más tiempo, y mejora el rendimiento de las capacidades cognitivas en general.

Entre las actividades propioceptivas activadoras se incluyen: trepar, hacer equilibrio en una viga, correr y andar descalzos, estimar y cargar pesos en ubicaciones variadas, sortear obstáculos en un trayecto. Después de dos horas de este tipo de actividades físicas REALES la memoria de trabajo puede mejorar su capacidad en un 50 % más.

El cuerpo está dotado y habilitado naturalmente para modelar y modular la cognición y su efectividad.
